Of course you can also use domestic stringless green beans which you can steam. That might mean that occasionally if I want to make a recipe like this, I might have to settle for something else. If the market has them and they are limp, I will leave them sitting there. Problem with that for me is that I can be very picky about my Asian long beans. You can also use long beans which you may have steamed up and chopped. I did use canned beans in this as I sometimes do when making marinated bean salads.
